Course Levels

My language courses are based on the Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR), which distinguishes the following six levels:

A1

(Beginners)

Comprehension: I can recognize and understand familiar words, names, and basic phrases concerning myself and others, as long as people speak slowly and clearly.

Oral Production: I can use expressions of everyday use and basic sentences aimed at satisfying needs of a concrete nature. I can introduce myself and others, and I am able to ask questions and give answers about personal details.  I can easily interact as long as the other person speaks slowly and clearly and is willing to cooperate.

Written Production: I can write a short postcard, I can fill in forms with personal details, and I am able to write short and simple sentences.

A2

(Pre-Intermediate)

Comprehension: I can understand frequently-used sentences and expressions related to the areas of most immediate personal relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment). I can catch the main point in short, clear, simple messages and announcements.

Oral Production: I can express routine tasks that require a simple exchange of information about familiar and common topics. I can describe in simple terms some aspects of my background and of the surrounding environment, and I can express immediate needs.

Written Production: I can write a series of simple phrases and sentences linked with simple connectors like „and”, „but“ and „because“.

B1

(Intermediate)

Comprehension: I am able to understand the main points of conversation related to work, study, leisure, and so on.

Oral Production: I can talk about topics related to work, study, leisure, and I can move easily in situations that may occur while travelling in the country where the language is spoken.

Written Production: I can produce a simple text about familiar or self-interest topics. I can write about experiences and events, hopes and ambitions, and I can briefly explain the reasons for my opinions and plans.

B2

(Upper Intermediate)

Comprehension: I am able to understand the key concepts of complex texts and conversations on both concrete and abstract topics.

Oral Production: I can interact with a certain degree of fluency and spontaneity that make a natural interaction possible with native speakers.

Written Production: I can produce a clear and detailed text on a wide range of topics and explain a point of view on a subject by providing the pros and cons of the various options.

C1

(Advanced)

Comprehension: I am able to understand a wide range of complex and long texts and I am able to recognize implicit meanings.

Oral Production: I can express myself spontaneously. I can use the language in a flexible and effective way for social, professional, and academic purposes.

Written Production: I can produce clear, well-constructed, detailed texts on complex topics, showing a secure control of the text structure and of its grammatical elements.

C2

(Mastery)

Oral Production: I can take part effortlessly in any conversation or discussion and I can express myself spontaneously, in a very fluid and precise way, by identifying the subtlest nuances of meaning in complex situations.

I can write complex letters, reports or articles, presenting the information with an effective logical structure, which helps the recipient to notice and remember significant points.
